Directions to Stern Grove

Below are directions from the various Bay Area locations to Stern Grove, site of the big wedding. Included are directions to and from the hotels that we've blocked for reservations.

Directions to Stern Grove

• From the Courtyard:
  Turn right on Bayhill, then a quick left on Elm, then another quick right on San Bruno. Follow signs to Interstate 280 north. Follow the directions given under "From the Peninsula".

• From the Ramada Inn:
  Take Bay St. west (away from The Embarcadero) to Van Ness. Turn left on Van Ness, then a few blocks later turn right on Lombard, which is US 101 north. On Lombard, follow signs to the Golden Gate Bridge. Once on the overpass, watch carefully for signs to CA 1 south. Exit right on 1 south. DO NOT GET ON THE BRIDGE! Follow the directions given under "From CA 1 South".

• From the Golden Gate Bridge:
  Once off the bridge, follow signs for CA 1 south. Follow the directions given under "From CA 1 South".

• From the San Mateo or Dumbarton Bridges:
  Once off the bridge, take US 101 north to Interstate 380, then 380 to Interstate 280 north. Follow the directions given under "From the Peninsula".

• From the San Francisco Bay Bridge:
  Once off the bridge, follow signs for US 101 south. Take 101 south to Interstate 280 south Daly City. Take 280 south to the Ocean Ave. /Geneva Ave. exit. Exit right on Ocean, and stay on Ocean 11 lights to Junipero Serra Blvd. Turn right on Junipero Serra, then a quick left on Sloat. Follow the directions for parking at Stern Grove.

• From the Peninsula:
  Take Interstate 280 north to CA 1 north (keep left on the freeway). Once off the freeway, keep right and look for signs for Junipero Serra Blvd. Bear right on Junipero Serra, and go about 1 mile to Sloat. Turn left on Sloat. Follow the directions for parking at Stern Grove.

• From CA 1 South:
  Go through a tunnel and Golden Gate Park. After the park, CA 1 becomes 19th Avenue. 2 miles after the park, turn right on Sloat. Follow the directions for parking at Stern Grove.

There are two parking lots for Stern Grove.
• The first, smaller lot is the IMMEDIATE right after 19th Avenue (CA 1). This lot offers easy access to the east meadow (for the ceremony) and the clubhouse (for the reception). There is space for only about 20-30 cars, so if this lot is full, please use the second lot.

• The second lot is a little further down Sloat. Take Sloat to Vale, and turn right on Vale. Go straight through the gates into the lot, and watch for oncoming traffic going down the hill. There is plenty of parking in this lot. To get to the east meadow, walk east (the same direction you came when you first entered the lot) through the west meadow, the concert meadow, and the smaller parking lot.

• The east meadow is to the right of the clubhouse, past the barbecue pits and the reflecting pool in the wooded area. The clubhouse is at the north end of the small parking lot.

• From SFO to Courtyard by Marriott:
  Follow signs from the airport to Interstate 380. About 1 mile out of the airport, exit at El Camino Real. Turn left on El Camino Real, and quickly get to the right lane of El Camino Real. At the second traffic light, turn right on Bayhill. The hotel will be on the right.

• From SFO to the Ramada Inn at Fisherman's Wharf:
  Follow signs from the airport to US 101 north. Stay on 101 north, past the exits for 3Com Park, to 280 north. Take 280 north to the end of the freeway, following signs for Third Street. Go straight coming off the freeway. The freeway becomes King Street (you'll pass Pacific Bell Park on the right), and then becomes The Embarcadero. Take The Embarcadero about fifteen blocks (it will curve to the left) to Bay St. Make a left on Bay St. , and the hotel will be on the right after about six blocks.
